Simply Auto LE002 60cm Luggage Elastics, Pack of 2Most bungee cords are sold on price and nothing else. Simply Auto Luggage Elastics are made to BS AU 258:1995, the British Standard covering elastic luggage restraints, and carry TÜV and GS approval on top of it. That means the elastic, the hooks and the way the two are joined have been tested by someone other than the manufacturer.A bungee cord that gives up does so under tension, usually with a metal hook on the end of it, and the cheap ones let go at the join between the elastic and the hook, which at motorway speed could result in a loose load and a metal hook going somewhere unpredictable. At 60cm each, they are ideal for a boot load, a roof box lid, a bike rack, or holding a tarpaulin down. Two come in the pack, which is usually what a job takes. The hooks are metal and grip a roof rail, rack rail, tie-down point or load bed anchor. The elastic stretches to take up slack and keeps tension as a load settles, which is the reason to use a cord rather than rope.Using them safely: Hook one end on first, then stretch the cord to the second anchor keeping your face and body out of the line of pull. A hook that slips travels fast. Check the elastic before each use and replace any cord where the covering is split or the hook has worked loose.
