- Shpelec 3183Y 1.5mm 3 Core Round White Flex Cable10M1.5mm² Flexible Cable For Household Appliances Up To 16ABasec Approved

SHPELEC 3183Y round flexible cable, 3 core 1.5mm², white PVC, supplied as one continuous 10m coil. For connecting household appliances - such as washing machines, spin dryers and fridges - to their plug, switch or connection unit.Which size do you need? 1.5mm² flex is rated up to 16A (about 3,680W at 230V), so it suits appliances up to 3kW on a 13A plug, such as kettles and heaters. Smaller flex is rated lower: 0.75mm² up to 6A and 1.0mm² up to 10A. Appliances rated over 16A need 2.5mm² flex (up to 25A). Always follow the appliance's instructions, and check its rating plate before ordering.Construction: three fine-stranded copper conductors, 1.5mm² each (brown live, blue neutral, green/yellow earth), PVC insulated, with a round white PVC sheath. Overall diameter approx. 8.3mm; approx. weight 109g per metre. Rated 300/500V; conductor temperature -15°C to +70°C. Max. conductor resistance at 20°C: 13.3 ohm/km. Minimum bending radius 5 x the cable diameter. BASEC approved, made to BS EN 50525-2-11 (H05VV-F).Where to use it: flexible connections indoors - appliance leads, and the flex from an appliance to its plug, switch or connection unit. It is not fixed-wiring cable: for circuits in walls, floors or ceilings use twin and earth (6242Y). Not suitable for outdoor or industrial use - choose a rubber flex (H05RR-F or H07RN-F) or an arctic-grade flex for those. If an appliance calls for heat-resistant flex, use that instead. For lamps and light fittings, 0.75mm² or 1.0mm² flex is usually enough and is thinner (approx. 6.7-7mm) for lampholders and cord grips. In the box: 1 x 10m coil of 1.5mm² 3 core 3183Y flex (approx. 1.1kg). It is one continuous length, so measure the length you need, allowing extra for terminations, before ordering. Other lengths are available in the length selector. Electrical work must comply with BS 7671 and the building regulations where you live (e.g. Part P in England and Wales); if in doubt, use a qualified electrician.
